Recent files

Click File → Recent Files in the native menu bar to see your recently opened files. Each entry shows the filename and its full path.

Click any entry to reopen that file immediately — no file picker needed.

Columnar saves the last 10 files you opened. When you open an 11th file, the oldest entry is removed from the list.

If you reopen a file that is already in the recent list, it moves to the top rather than creating a duplicate.

Recent files are saved to disk and persist between app restarts. The list is stored in your OS app data directory:

PlatformLocation
Windows%APPDATA%\com.columnar.app\recent_files.json
macOS~/Library/Application Support/com.columnar.app/recent_files.json
Linux~/.local/share/com.columnar.app/recent_files.json

Click File → Recent Files → Clear Recent Files to remove all entries. The submenu will show No recent files until you open another file.

If a file in the recent list has been moved, renamed, or deleted since you last opened it, clicking its entry will show an error toast: Error loading file: Cannot open file: …. The entry remains in the list — it is not automatically removed.
